Welcome to 2013, The year of the snake

Welcome back for another year

This year Michelle is teaching Year 8 and we all hope to have a blast. This year is the Chinese Year of the Snake which is the year some of us were born in 2001.
Term 1
Rich task we are studying Tuakiri - 'Identity' exploring past, present and where you intend to go using the theme of a river, creating a waka hoe - paddle as a symbol. Maths focus is Number and Measurement. Also we've just started our Novel Studies for reading, Writing is about 'how can you make your writing come alive?' PE - aquatics.

Term 2
Continuing on with Rich Task we are finishing our waka hoe and getting really prepared for Camp. Learning about Motutapu Island and it's many elements. And there are so many things to find out about this pest free island. Everyone is busy researching a topic to share that is related to or is about Motutapu. CAMP is coming up in Week 6. Maths focus is number problem solving, fractions, decimals ...Geometry is maps, all about  locations and direction which will be helful for the orienteering activity at camp. STEPZ DANCE is on  from Week 7,8,9.
